Summary: After spending several wonderful days at Fairmont Château Lake Louise, our stay at Fairmont Banff Springs was unfortunately a stark contrast. We elected the Fairmont Gold experience at both hotels, which made the difference between the two properties even more noticeable. At Lake Louise, Fairmont Gold felt elevated, thoughtful, and genuinely special. At Banff Springs, the amenities, service, and overall experience simply did not compare. While the hotel itself is undeniably beautiful and historic, many of our interactions with staff felt awkward, unfriendly, or unhelpful. Our room was quite small and felt dated, and the amenities fell short of what we expected from both a Fairmont property and the Fairmont Gold level of service. Fairmont Château Lake Louise felt warm, polished, and exceptionally well managed. Banff Springs, by comparison, felt impersonal, tired, and underwhelming in nearly every respect. We are glad we experienced the property, but the difference between the two hotels was significant, and we would return to Lake Louise without hesitation.
